Saturday + Sunday · every weekend
Weekends are when Brooklyn parents actually want to leave the house. A Saturday-night dinner that isn't rushed. A Sunday brunch that lasts long enough to actually taste. A long afternoon of errands that somehow always eats six hours. A birthday party at a friend's place across the borough. A full day to just be two adults, not two parents. Brooklyn Sitters covers weekends every week — not as a favor, not as a maybe, but as the biggest chunk of our regular schedule. Becky and Shelly both work Saturdays and Sundays routinely. Saturday nights are our most-booked slot of the week, full stop — the 6 PM-to-midnight window fills first, so book at least a week out if it's a prime Saturday, and two-to-three weeks out for anything in summer or around the holidays. Sunday afternoons are quieter on our side, so same-week availability is usually easy. The hourly rate is the same as any weekday booking — $25/hr for one child, $28/hr for two, +$3/hr per additional. No weekend premium, no holiday surcharge, no 'we had to move our own plans' markup. The travel surcharge is the same too. We take long-block weekend sessions comfortably: four hours for a dinner, six hours for a dinner-plus-event, eight hours for a full Saturday while you handle errands, twelve hours if you're doing something across the city and need day-into-evening coverage. We also do recurring weekend slots — a standing Saturday afternoon every week, a Sunday morning breakfast-and-park rotation — with the same sitter every time. For events that run late, we add late-night coverage up to 3 AM when you flag it at booking. Just tell us the return plan when you confirm and we'll lock in the hours.
Why us
Weekends are our busiest days, not an exception we make. Book ahead for Saturday nights — they go first.
Four-, six-, eight-hour weekend sessions are normal for us. Meals handled, activities planned, bedtime routine followed.
No weekend premium. $25/hr for one child, $28/hr for two, same as any weekday booking.
Our Saturday 6-to-midnight window is the single most-booked slot of our week. For regular Saturdays, 7–10 days of lead time usually lands you the sitter you want. For summer Saturdays (June–August), and for holiday-adjacent Saturdays (around Thanksgiving, Chanukah/Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day weekend), push that out to 2–3 weeks. NYE has its own page with its own rules. If you want a specific sitter — for example Shelly for Hebrew-speaking, or Becky for an infant — say so at booking. If you don't specify, we'll match to whoever's open. For recurring Saturday bookings (a standing weekly slot), we block the time on our calendar the moment you confirm so it's yours indefinitely, and you can cancel a specific week with notice without losing the slot.
Weekend sessions run longer than weekday ones, and we're set up for it. 4-hour blocks — dinner on Atlantic, Cortelyou, or Emmons, home by 10 or 11. 6-hour blocks — dinner plus a show, a concert at Barclays, a long gallery opening in Williamsburg. 8-hour blocks — a full Saturday daytime while you handle errands, a wedding out on Long Island, a day trip into Manhattan. 12-hour blocks — a day-into-evening run where we cover breakfast through bedtime. For anything past 8 hours we occasionally send both Becky and Shelly depending on the number of kids and their ages; we'll tell you at booking whether one sitter handles it or two. The rate structure is flat hourly in every case. No block-discount, no block-surcharge, just hours times rate.

Common questions
No. $25/hr for one child, $28/hr for two, regardless of day. The travel surcharge is the same too.
One to two weeks is safest for prime Saturday evenings, especially in summer. We'll do our best on shorter notice but Saturday 6–10pm books up fast.
Yes. Eight-, ten-, even twelve-hour weekend blocks are normal. We'll handle meals, a park trip, nap time, and whatever activities you plan.
Sunday is quieter than Saturday for us, so same-week availability is usually easy. Pickup from a brunch, then you relax for the rest of the day.
Depends on your kids. Becky's great with infants and toddlers. Shelly's the one for school-age kids who want a real activity-and-homework block. Tell us the ages and we'll suggest.
Yes — regular weekly bookings are welcome. Lock in the time slot, same sitter, same family, week after week.
