Your routine, not ours
Share the feeding schedule, nap cues, and soothe preferences when you book. We follow it down to the minute. Improvising is for older kids.
Newborns through 12 months
Leaving a newborn for the first time is a whole thing, and Brooklyn Sitters takes it as seriously as you do. Becky and Shelly have been doing infant babysitting for Brooklyn families for years — bottle feeds, nap transitions, the unreasonable number of outfit changes an infant requires in a single three-hour session, the first-time-out texts from the couch that just need a calm reassuring reply with a photo. We don't run an agency with rotating strangers. We don't bluff our way through a feeding schedule we haven't read. We come to the booking prepared: we've read your notes, we know the bottle sizes and the nap cues, we've clarified what 'safe sleep' means in your specific crib, and we've confirmed whether the baby's been doing pacifier or not. For very young infants — under 3 months — we recommend a no-charge in-home meet-and-greet before the first booking so your baby sees our face while you're still there and relaxed. It makes the first session smoother for everyone. During the session, we follow your routine exactly. Improvising is for older kids. If the feeding schedule says a bottle at 7:15, the bottle happens at 7:15. If the soothe pattern is a specific hold with a specific song, we use it. If the baby cries past the comfortable threshold, we text you — we don't panic. If the nap doesn't go down when you expected, we tell you honestly and adjust. We don't do overnight infant care — our hours run 8 AM to 3 AM and we don't do sleep-training — but for every hour inside that window, you get the same steady, experienced care from the same sitter every booking. Babies do better with familiar faces. Book the same sitter repeatedly and your infant gets a real second adult in their life, not a rotating stranger each time.
Why us
Share the feeding schedule, nap cues, and soothe preferences when you book. We follow it down to the minute. Improvising is for older kids.
Want a photo an hour in? Just ask when you book. We'll send a couple during the session so the first-time-out is easier on the parent side.
Infants do better with one familiar face. Book the same sitter every time — Becky or Shelly — and your baby gets a consistent person, not a rotating stranger.
For babies under 3 months, we offer a free 20-to-30 minute meet-and-greet at your home before the first session. You're there, the baby is there, we sit on your couch for half an hour and go through the feeding log, the nap schedule, the crib setup, the bottle-warmer situation, the diaper bin, the formula/breastmilk labeling, where you keep the extra pacifiers, and which noise matters vs. which noise is normal baby noise. The baby sees our face for the first time while you're holding her. When we come back for the real booking a week later, we're not strangers walking in cold — we're the person who sat on the couch and played with her rattle for half an hour last Tuesday. Parents consistently tell us the first session after a meet-and-greet feels 10x easier than the alternative, and we agree. No charge, no upsell.
We follow whatever sleep setup you have already established at home — we don't improvise on infant sleep. Back-to-sleep placement on a firm, flat surface. No loose blankets, pillows, bumpers, or toys in the crib. Sleep sack only if that's your household's practice. Pacifier only if you're already giving one. Room temperature as you've set it, white noise machine at your preferred volume if you use one. We don't do sleep-training, don't introduce new methods mid-session, and don't second-guess your setup. If a nap doesn't go down, the baby stays awake and calm with us until you're home or the next natural window opens — we'd rather skip a nap than force one.

Common questions
We take bookings for newborns and up. For very young babies (under 3 months) we recommend an in-home meet-and-greet before the first session — no charge — so your baby sees our face while you're still home.
No. Our hours run 8 AM to 3 AM. We don't do overnight shifts or sleep-training. For newborn-specialist overnight care, a dedicated NCS agency is the right call.
Yes. Label the bottles, share the schedule, and we'll stick to it. Store breastmilk per your instructions — we follow exactly what you set up.
Yes. Sleep sacks if that's your routine, no loose blankets, back-to-sleep placement, following whatever you set up in the crib or pack-n-play. We don't improvise on sleep with infants.
We stay calm, try the soothing pattern you use, and text you if it's going past comfortable. Babies have bad nights. You shouldn't feel guilty for going out, and we won't make it worse by panicking.
Yes. $25/hr for one child regardless of age. We don't add infant surcharges.
