Brooklyn Sitters

Date Night Babysitters in Brooklyn

Date night is one of the most-booked reasons Brooklyn parents call Brooklyn Sitters. It's also the reason that most matters to get right — because a date night with a bad sitter isn't a date, it's a three-hour background stress session. Becky and Shelly have done hundreds of date-night sessions across Brooklyn over the last 8+ years. A Friday dinner at a favorite restaurant on Atlantic Avenue. A birthday celebration at a Williamsburg wine bar. A long-overdue walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and back. A Saturday night at Barclays while the kids are home asleep. We've covered all of it, and what Brooklyn parents tell us after the first booking is always the same: the night was actually relaxing, because the thing you usually worry about — is the sitter handling it? — stopped being a worry. We arrive on time, usually 10 minutes early for a calm handoff. We run the bedtime routine you share with us exactly the way you do it — same order, same stuffies, same books, same lights-out time. If homework's outstanding, it gets done before dinner. If the older kid wants screen time and it's not on the plan, we say the same no you would. The house is in the shape you left it when you come home, which is a small detail that matters surprisingly much. The goal is the same every single date night we cover: you walk in the door, peek in on sleeping kids, and the first thing you think is 'I'd book that again next weekend.' That's what makes a date-night sitter actually good. Not a form that says 'trusted' on it. Not a 5-star marketplace profile. The second time you book is the only review that counts, and that's how we build every booking.

Why us

Why Brooklyn parents choose us for date nights.

Same sitter, every time

No rotating staff. You book Becky or Shelly, and that's who shows up. Your kids know her face, her voice, and her rules.

Bedtime is handled

Whether your kid's routine takes 20 minutes or an hour, we know it matters. We follow your playbook so you come home to a sleeping house.

Homework's included

Both Becky and Shelly have tutoring experience. If your kid has a page of math due tomorrow, it's done before you're back.

Book in minutes

Pick a date, pick a time, submit. We confirm within a few hours — no phone tag, no endless back-and-forth.

Where Brooklyn date nights actually happen

Most of the date-night bookings we cover fall into a handful of patterns. A Midwood or Flatbush couple heading to dinner on Avenue J, Avenue M, or Cortelyou Road and home by 11. A Bergen Beach or Marine Park family driving to Emmons Avenue in Sheepshead Bay for seafood, then back by midnight. A Brooklyn Heights couple walking to a dinner on Atlantic or Montague and catching a show after. A Williamsburg couple doing a Bedford-Avenue dinner plus drinks at McCarren. A Bay Ridge night along Third Avenue's restaurant row. Occasionally a full Manhattan night — Broadway, a wedding, a birthday dinner — that runs late enough to need our late-night coverage. Whatever the shape, we confirm the return window at booking so there's no end-of-night awkwardness about the hours.

What a smooth date-night handoff looks like

We show up 10 minutes early. You meet us at the door, walk us through the kids' current state (eaten, hungry, on the couch, mid-meltdown — whatever it actually is), point out where the spare diapers / pull-ups / inhaler / emergency kit lives, confirm the lights-out time, and leave. Twenty-to-thirty minutes of calm handoff is the difference between a good night and a great one. We text once early in the session to confirm everything's steady, then you don't hear from us unless something genuinely needs you. When you get home, you peek in on sleeping kids, we give you the 90-second recap (dinner went in, homework is in the backpack, bath happened, bedtime ran 10 minutes long), and you pay us on the spot or we invoice — your call at booking.

Common questions

Date Nights FAQ.

How far in advance should I book a date-night babysitter?

We recommend booking at least 24–48 hours ahead for date-night sessions, especially on weekends. For big occasions like anniversaries or birthdays, a week or two out is ideal. We'll always try to accommodate last-minute requests if the calendar allows.

What's the rate for date-night babysitting?

Our standard rate is $25/hr for one child, $28/hr for two, and +$3/hr for each additional child. A small travel surcharge applies for some neighborhoods (check your area page for the exact amount). The same rate applies whether it's a date night, an after-school session, or a weekend.

What time do date-night sessions usually end?

Most date-night sessions end between 10 PM and midnight. If your night runs later than expected, just text us — we'll stay as long as you need and bill the extra time at the same hourly rate.

Will you handle bedtime while we're out?

Absolutely. Bedtime is part of every date-night session. Share your usual routine when you book — stories, songs, lights-out time — and we'll follow it exactly. Most kids are asleep before you're at dessert.

What if we get home later than expected?

Life happens. Just send a quick text and we'll stay. We bill the extra time at the standard hourly rate with no surprise surcharges or late fees.

Do you pick up from restaurants or cover other boroughs?

Our sessions are in-home, so we stay with the kids while you're out anywhere. We don't currently cover bookings in Manhattan or Queens, but we serve most of Brooklyn — including Williamsburg, Brooklyn Heights, and Crown Heights with a small travel surcharge.
