Brooklyn Sitters · Williamsburg

Babysitters in Williamsburg.

Williamsburg is where creative Brooklyn meets family life — converted industrial lofts, farmers markets on weekends, McCarren Park on sunny days, and a new generation of parents raising kids in one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in the city. Williamsburg sits outside our regular service radius, which is why a travel surcharge applies — they drive, they pay gas, you get the same sitters South Brooklyn families already trust. Becky and Shelly make the trip because the families here are genuinely wonderful.

Two Williamsburgs, and you probably know which one you live in

Williamsburg is effectively two distinct neighborhoods stacked on top of each other. North Williamsburg — roughly Bedford Avenue above Metropolitan up through McCarren Park and Greenpoint — is the transplant-creative-family Williamsburg, where a lot of our bookings come from. South Williamsburg, south of Division Avenue, is the Chasidic community, with completely different streets, schools, and family patterns. We cover both, but the booking shape is different for each. For North Williamsburg families, a sitter booking is usually for a dinner on Bedford, a show at Music Hall of Williamsburg, a Domino Park stroller walk, or a Manhattan night that requires coming back over the bridge at midnight. McCarren Park is the anchor — most families end up there on any given weekend.

What bookings usually look like here

Williamsburg is outside our regular service radius — drive from our Bergen Beach base runs 45 minutes without traffic, closer to an hour at rush hour — so a $25 travel surcharge applies and we're transparent about what that covers. Booking lead time matters more here than almost anywhere else we serve: we ask for 24-to-48 hours notice minimum, and Saturday nights should be booked a week out. When we do come, we come for the whole block — 4-hour minimum, typically 5-to-8 hours on weekends. The upside, for parents, is that the same sitter who drove 45 minutes to be there is not going to rush your bedtime routine to get home.

A Williamsburg parent

Williamsburg has a ton of sitters on paper but almost all of them are college kids doing it between shifts. We wanted someone who actually knew how to run bedtime for a toddler. Becky drives over from Bergen Beach and it's worth every dollar of the surcharge because she's been doing this for a decade.

So flexible, communicative, and amazing with children. It’s one thing to be a babysitter but when the kids WANT me to leave you know they’re doing a good job.
