Same-day when possible
Call or book online. We answer fast. If we can do it, we do — and if we can't tonight, we'll tell you before you waste time.
Tonight · same day · 1-hour response
Sometimes the plan changes. A regular sitter cancels at 4 PM for a 7 PM plan. A dinner you thought was next week is actually tonight. A work thing gets moved and suddenly you have nobody for the kids at 6. Brooklyn Sitters takes last-minute bookings whenever our schedule allows — often same-day, sometimes within an hour or two of your call. We don't run a 40-person marketplace of strangers where you post a request and wait to see who picks it up. You call one number, you get one of two people, and you get a fast, honest yes or no. If Becky's out, we see if Shelly's open. If neither is free tonight, we tell you immediately so you can make other plans — no dragging you along for an hour while we 'check availability.' From our Bergen Beach base we can usually be at a South Brooklyn home (Midwood, Flatbush, Marine Park, Bergen Beach, Sheepshead Bay, Bay Ridge area) in 15–30 minutes once the booking's confirmed. For Williamsburg or Brooklyn Heights, figure 45 minutes plus traffic — we'll give you a real ETA, not a marketing ETA. Last-minute doesn't mean surge pricing. Same $25/hr for one child, $28/hr for two, +$3/hr per additional. Same transparent travel surcharge if your neighborhood has one. The 2-hour minimum still applies (same as any booking, even weeks out). To book fast, call or text (347) 592-7903 — we actually answer. The booking form also works and pings us immediately; we respond within about an hour. Either way, you'll know tonight's plan within about 60 minutes of reaching out, which is usually enough time to pivot if we can't cover.
Why us
Call or book online. We answer fast. If we can do it, we do — and if we can't tonight, we'll tell you before you waste time.
You don't wade through 40 profiles. You get one of two people who already work with Brooklyn families every week.
Last-minute doesn't mean surge pricing. Same $25/hr, same transparent travel fee, same sitters you'd book a week ahead.
From Bergen Beach, realistic same-day arrival windows once the booking is confirmed: 15–25 min to Marine Park, Mill Basin, Georgetown, Gerritsen Beach, Canarsie, Flatlands. 20–30 min to Sheepshead Bay, Manhattan Beach, Brighton Beach, Midwood, Flatbush, East Flatbush. 25–35 min to Ditmas Park, Kensington, Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach, Dyker Heights. 35–45 min to Bay Ridge, Sunset Park, Borough Park, Crown Heights. 45–60 min to Williamsburg and Brooklyn Heights, longer at rush hour. These aren't marketing numbers — they're actual drive times from our base. If you call and we're already out on another job, the ETA is from wherever we currently are, and we'll tell you straight.
When you call or text for a last-minute booking, the fastest path to a confirmation is giving us four things up front: (1) what time you need us tonight, (2) how long, (3) how many kids and what ages, (4) your neighborhood. With those four, we can usually confirm or decline in under 10 minutes. Anything else — allergies, dietary stuff, bedtime routine, which parent is meeting us at the door — can come in the follow-up message once we've locked in the slot. If it's a recurring booking and we've sat for your family before, say that first; we usually have your notes and can skip straight to scheduling.
